IPC 2017 Acceptance – Kramers-Kronig (KK) receiver

Posted in NEWS

The Kramers-Kronig (KK) receiver, proposed  (https://www.osapublishing.org/optica/abstract.cfm?uri=optica-3-11-1220)  and patented in 2017 with INCIPICT, has been exploited to demonstrate a fiber-optic transmission record: 440 Gb/s on a single channel, single polarization, and with a single photodiode at the receiver. The KK receiver simplifies considerably the receiver design, by only requiring a single photodiode per polarization channel, versus four photodiodes necessary in today’s coherent receivers. The experiment has been carried out in Bell Labs at Crawford Hill (NJ). The unprecedented result has just been presented at the post-deadline session of the IEEE Photonics Conference, in Orlando (https://www.photonicssociety.org/conferences/ieee-photonics-conference).

Structural Health Monitoring will be widly discussed through a series of mini-symposia during next congress Eurodyn 2017 (www.eurodyn2017.it) wher Prof. Vincenzo Gattulli will serve as co-chair of the conference. Interesting results obtained within the INCIPICT project will be illustrated.
